Equipment

  • Skillet Pan
  • Towel
  • Blender or food processor
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Hazelnuts or substitute with almonds/peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder or use melted chocolate
  • cup Powdered Sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil vegetable or coconut oil
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Essence
  • tsp Salt

Instructions

Roast the Nuts:

  • Add hazelnuts to a dry skillet.
    1 cup Hazelnuts
  • Roast on medium heat for 10 minutes, or until browned and the skins begin to blister.
  • Transfer to a towel and rub them together to remove the skins.
  • Set aside the peeled nuts.

Blend the Hazelnuts (or other nuts):

  • In a high-speed blender or food processor, grind the roasted hazelnuts until a thick paste forms.
  • This will take 2-3 minutes. The paste should look creamy, like peanut butter.

Add Oil:

  • Add 1 tbsp of oil to the nut paste.
  • Blend again until the oil incorporates smoothly, giving the spread a silkier texture.

Add Dry Ingredients:

  • Now, add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla essence to the mixture.
⅓ cup Powdered Sugar, ½ tsp Vanilla Essence
  • Blend everything together until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the blender if needed.

Adjust the Consistency:

  • If your spread is too thick, you can add a little more oil (1 tsp at a time) and blend until it reaches the desired consistency.

Store:

  • Transfer the homemade Nutella to an airtight jar.
  • It will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks at room temperature or longer if refrigerated.

Notes

  • Substitute options: You can use almonds or peanuts if you don’t have hazelnuts.
  • For extra creaminess, you can use melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder.
  • Adjust the sweetness by using more or less powdered sugar based on your preference.
  • If the Nutella hardens over time, microwave it for 10-15 seconds to soften.
This recipe is quick and delicious, perfect for a homemade touch to your breakfast or dessert recipes. Enjoy it on bread, pancakes, or straight from the jar!
