Salt Crackers / Salt Cookies Recipe (Eggless & Without Butter)

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1.5 tsp Yeast Instant yeast preferred
- ¼ tsp Salt Extra for sprinkling
- ¼ tsp Baking soda
- ½ tsp Baking powder
- ½ cup Lukewarm Water Slightly warm, not hot
- 1 tsp Sugar Helps activate the yeast
- 4 tbsp Oil
Instructions
Prepare the yeast mixture
- In a mixing bowl or jug, mix 1/2 cup of warm water and 1 1/2 tsp. yeast.
- Let it sit for about 5 minutes or until the mixture becomes frothy.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. sugar, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, and 1/2 tsp. baking powder.
- Stir well to ensure everything is evenly mixed.
Form the Dough
- Add 4 tbsp. oil into the dry ingredients.
- Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough starts to form.
- If the dough feels too dry, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time.
- Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Rest the Dough
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Knead Again
- After the dough has risen, knead it again for about 1 minute to remove any air pockets.
Preheat the Oven & Roll the Dough
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Divide the dough into two portions.
- Dust your surface with a little flour and roll out the dough until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
Cut and Shape the Crackers
- Using a cookie cutter or a knife, cut the dough into circles or your desired shape.

Brush and Sprinkle
- Brush the tops of the crackers with a mixture of oil and water.
- Sprinkle some extra salt on top for flavor.
Arrange and Bake
- Remove the excess dough and place the shaped crackers on a baking pan
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10 to 12 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Let them cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container.
